On September 28, 2018 there will be a public roundtable session under the theme “Challenging gender inequality in the audiovisual sector in the Mediterranean” in Alicante, Spain, as part of the project “SouthMed WiA – Towards Greater Gender Equality: Promoting the Role and Image of Women in the Southern Mediterranean Audiovisual Sector”.
This roundtable session, hosted by Casa Mediterráneo, starts at 18:00 Alicante time (GMT+2) and complements project activities, including two days of Training Sessions aimed at inspiring and supporting the implementation of sub-granted projects under the second call for proposals.
The programme will feature Spanish and Southern Mediterranean experts and prominent public figures within the audiovisual sector, debating on the representation of women in the media and the role of audiovisual output to convey socially transformational content.
The session is free of cost and the programme will start with an introduction by Mercedes Giovinazzo, Director of Fundació Interarts, and will be moderated by Ignasi Guardans, Chairman and CEO of CUMEDIAE. It will feature a video presentation from Isabel Coixet, President of EWA, and contributions from Laasad Jamooussi, Director of ESAC, Pilar Perez Solano, Producer, Scriptwriter, Movie Director, and representative of CIMA, Dima Al-Joundi, Producer and Director, Crystal Films, Pepe Vidal, Journalist and Professor, University of Elche. Maria Such, Director of Institut Valencià de les Dones i per la Igualtat de Gènere, will give closing remarks.
