On June 2nd CUMEDIAE, as a partner organisation of DISCE project, participated in the webinar: “Day of Creative Economies in the European Union: Value, care and capabilities for a sustainable and inclusive future“. This online event provided a great occasion to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on the cultural sector in Europe and shed light on the practitioners’ visions, hopes and plans for the future of the sector.
The Introductory Panel on the Cultural Policies in the EU: State of play after Covid-19 counted on panel of speakers made by Elena Polivtseva (Head of policy and research, IETM), Gabriele Rosana (Policy Director, Culture Action Europe), Catherine Magnant (Head of Unit, Cultural Policy, DG EAC), Prof. Jarna Heinonen (Entrepreneurship, University of Turku) and Prof. Annick Schramme (Cultural entrepreneurship, Antwerp Management School).
Ignasi Guardans, CUMEDIAE CEO and Stefanie Thomas, Director of Strategy and Projects respectively moderated two of the webinar roundtables, on which the experts and practitioners were invited to reflect on the questions “How can we advocate for the value of arts to be recognised by the wider social and political domains?” and “How to address issues highlighted by COVID, like colonial history, inequality and freedom of expression?”.
CUMEDIAE is proud to have participated in this remarkable event and to have shared the perspectives on the future of creative sectors around Europe with the representatives of CCS.
